Afghan National Team goes 2-3 in Taiwan's Hua Lien Kwen Fu Cup - International Invitational

The ANT 2007 went 2-3 in the Hua Lien Kwen Fu Cup International hosted by the small Taiwanese city of Hua Lien. The team was greeted with warm Taiwanese fans whom attempted to take pictures with the Afghan National Team at every opportunity.

The NBAA requests all those who respect the game of basketball and its vast history to please be apart of the future of the game. If you love this game, then we are happy you are here. The NBAA represents the next generation of Afghan Basketball elite that will build the stepping stones of the future of basketball in Afghanistan, and in the Afghan communities overseas. The NBAA will be hands on with the future of Afghan Basketball and it will do its best to make and ensure that Afghan Basketball players are recognized and assembled for the benefit of Afghanistan and its future.

Today is a new dawn filled with a new light. This is a mark in Afghan basketball that will be catapult us Afghans to the future of the very system we made and began to build in 2002. Years and years of unity, commitment, honor, skill, athleticism and dedication is what marks the sign of a champion. All Afghan basketball players are champions in the eyes of the NBAA. The National Basketball Association of Afghanistan is a grassroots movement made for the very people who were here in the beginning and who will be here in the future the Afghan Youth.

The NBAA is the next step in Afghan Basketball and it will be the future cornerstone of athletics in Afghanistan and Afghans overseas one day. Today's Afghan youth is tomorrow's Afghan National Teams. The NBAA is here to teach good sportsmanship, honor, integrity, grit, and respect for our sport, for our nation, for our religion, and for our identity. Please register yourselves, and your teams and reek the benefit of a unified Afghan Basketball platform and movement that no one can stop.

Wihin the preliminary rounds for qualifications to the Asian Games Basketball Tournament, being held at the Basketball Indoor Hall at Sport City in Doha, an Afghani selection coached by Zabi Subat and made up of players of Afghani origin from the United States with captain Yousof Etemadi has won a signficant game 65-57 against Hong Kong.

The Afghan National Team made its international debut in Chantilly, Virginia at Hoops Magic Basketball Academy. The ANT was introduced to the crowd of 1500 Afghan American spectators on hand. The Afghan National Team was formed by Naser Shahalemi after much discussions and negotiations with the ANABF and the ANOC/Olympic Committee in July 2006. Read More
