CONSTITUTION OF THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION OF AFGHANISTAN

(FIBA AUTHORIZED ENTITY REPRESENTING AFGHANISTAN)

On June 20th, 2008 the NBAA replaced the ANABF as Afghanistan's National Basketball Federation and Association via Afghanistan's National Olympic Committee.The National Basketball Association of Afghanistan was established in August 1, 2007. The NBAA is a grassroots sports movement developed from the Afghan youths in Afghanistan. The National Basketball Association of Afghanistan welcomes anyone to help assist the NBAA in its quest to improve basketball programs in Afghanistan. The NBAA is hoping to increase its members and develop a functioning Basketball league in Afghanistan. The NBAA will also be hosting a series of Afghan basketball tournaments in Kabul and Herat to increase the basketball activity in the country.

The NBAA will be holding honest and fair elections in Kabul, Afghanistan once we have accomplished at the very minimum over 100 registered members. The NBAA is not for any one person but for an entire country to show the world Afghans know and respect a system for sports and also for the future of the game. The National Basketball Association of Afghanistan is based in Olympic Gymnasium next door to Ghazi Stadium. NBAA offices were established in November 4, 2008 as official headquarters for the 1st time in over 30 years.

The Afghanistan National Amateur Basketball Federation has officially changed it's name to the National Basketball Association of Afghanistan from July 20th, 2008. The ANABF Executive board in Kabul has made the decision to change the name of group to the NBAA, and from this day forward we will be known as the NBAA Executive Board and our Afghanistan National Basketball federation will be known as the National Basketball Association of Afghanistan officially. In our native language of Dari and Pashto will be known as the "Federasoon-e-Milli-Basketball-e-Afghanistan".

The Afghan National Team made its international debut in Chantilly, Virginia at Hoops Magic Basketball Academy. The ANT was introduced to the crowd of 1500 Afghan American spectators on hand.
